Good Morning …! Praise
the LORD …!
Today’s meditation is
taken from James 1:19-20 “My dear
brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen,
slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce
the righteousness that God desires.”
A boy with a bad
temper, his father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost
his temper, to hammer a nail in the back fence. The first day the boy had
driven 37 nails into the fence. Then it gradually dwindled down. He discovered
it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence.
Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his
father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for
each day that he was able to hold his temper.
The days passed and
the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone.
The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, “You have done well, my son, but look at the
holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in
anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and
draw it out. It won’t matter how many times you say ‘I’m sorry’, the wound is still there.”
One of the major
problem in everyone’s life is called “ANGER ” .
James started with my
dear brothers and sisters, take a note of it and it’s very important in every
believer’s life. He mentioned 3 major things.
1. Quick to listen.
2. Slow to speak.
3. Slow to Anger.
Today, we will
meditate last part of the verse i.e “slow to anger “, James gives the reason
that we should be slow to anger, “for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.” If you want to grow
in righteousness, slow to anger and submit God’s word.
Anger will destroy the relationship between two persons and God
as well, the sin of anger rip apart Christian families and churches. Unbridled
anger is a devastating sin that always creates distance in
relationships.
When you don't manage your life well, you become angry and
frustrated as things don't go as intended, and our bad mood is a sign showing
we were not able to resolve the conflict.
J
esus
labeled anger as the root sin behind murder (Matt. 5:21-22). Do you know? Before Cain committed
the first murder in history, God confronted him with the question (Gen. 4:6), “Why are you
angry?” It’s not a bad question to ask yourself when you’re angry. Paul
warned that unchecked anger gives the devil a foothold in your life (Eph. 4:26-27). And yet
it is tolerated in many homes and churches. We have known many Christians who
abuse others with angry words and behavior.
Remember, it doesn’t matter how many times you
say ‘I’m sorry’, but the wound is still there in the others person heart. The anger of man never achieves what God wants
to achieve, God expects us to grow in righteousness that the reason we should
be “slow to anger” and submit God’s word.
Psalms 103:8 “The LORD is merciful and gracious;
slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.”
Let’s take time to pray
about the anger and also ask lord to teach how to control the anger so that
will grow in righteousness … Amen!
GOD BLESS YOU …!
