Daily Devotion : Set Your MIND On Things Above

Good Morning Friends … Praise the LORD …!

Today’s mediation is taken from Colossians Chapter 3.

 “"If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.Colossians 3:1-2

Question is where is your MIND?


people in this world always concentrate on the earthly things to survive their life like money,house,beauty,popularity,education etc .  Sometimes people joke about being so heavenly minded that they are not much earthly good. The truth is that our heavenly focus changes how we think about everything here on earth. We recognize the importance of the eternal. We value the character of Christ that makes all things new.

if you are focused on Jesus in Heaven and discover that you have a real thirst and hunger to know more about Him, a desire to pray to Him, and a desire to be with other people who are worshiping Him, then you have set your mind to be changed by Christ into the person He has created you to become.




Colossians 3:1. Here, the apostle is urging us to exchange the old desires, attitudes, and actions that were characteristic of our former lives for those that are indicative of our new rank and standing , he is asking us to change the past life things .

We can see 3 key aspects here:

 1. CHANGE OF DESIRES
2. CHANGE OF THOUGHTS
3. CHANGE OF ACTIONS.

We have to focus on the "things above”, where Christ sated on the right hand of God meaning, God the Father is indicative of the Lord’s power, authority, and position.

Paul was not only asking us to love and meditate on the things in heaven, but also on the qualities that characterize the life and rule of Jesus Christ who is in heaven.

"Things above" means

1. Galatians 5:22-23 (fruit of the Spirit) : " the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

2. Phil. 4:8 "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

3. James 3:17 " But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere."

As we long for these qualities and think about them, they will transform our lives .
