Daily Devotion : Joyful in Trials/Sufferings

Good Morning … Praise the LORD …!

Today’s mediation is taken from  1 Peter 1:6 “In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials”

Yesterday, we have seen there is a great joy in the new birth / salvation.

Today we will see the remaining part of the same verse where it says “though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials”

Question here is if we have great joy in salvation, why we need to suffer or trail?

If we understand the purpose of suffering then we will rejoice in the trails as well. Note that trails are not accident, it has purpose.

If we see right from Genesis, trails or sufferings is necessary for a believer to discipline himself and also grow in the lord

Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as sons. For what son is not disciplined by his father” (Heb 12:7)

In many verses in bible says that the sufferings will help us to build Christ like character and also as Paul said in 1 Corinthians 11:30–32, Trials will help us to turn us away from sin and help us to live a holy life.

Suffering is essential in equipping us for ministry. Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 1:4 that God “comforts us in all afflictions, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Sufferings will help us in many aspects in Christian life but primarily we should know the purpose of the trails or suffering then we should be able to joyful in sufferings as well .

Finally, there can be two ways to respond to suffering, one that curses God because of suffering and one that praises God, even in the midst of suffering . Job 2:9–10 .

Let’s take time to thank God for all the trails and also give praises to God even in the midst of Suffering … Amen !

GOD BLESS YOU … !
