Daily Devotion : Suffering Produces Endurance

Good Morning … ! Praise The Lord … !

Today’s meditation is taken from Romans 5:3-4 “ Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope”

If we look at this verse, Paul is clearly telling about the Christian character .

Question here is how many of us will rejoice in the suffering? , its very difficult to rejoice in the sufferings but Jesus telling we should rejoice in the suffering knowing that Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope.." , that hope does not fail, because God's compassionate love has been poured into our hearts.  This is often taken to mean God allows us to suffer to "build our character".

One of the famous question all believers ask is that “If God is so good and loving, why Christians has to suffer a lot ? Or why I have to suffer a lot ?  ”

Jesus said in John 16:33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Remember that there will be sufferings in this world but that helps us to grow stronger in the lord.
Suffering is simply part of life. And suffering produces endurance. "no pain, no gain": enduring suffering makes one stronger. Suffering produces endurance.

Tragically, for some people, suffering hardens only their hearts, not their capacity for pain. For some, suffering leads to bitterness towards God and other people.

Paul wrote these words on suffering and endurance late in his life - after years of much pain, disappointment, suffering, persecution, imprisonment, and hardship. It was only then that having gone through it all, His suffering gave him a strength he would not have had otherwise.

So for Paul, suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character: Character is not built overnight. It takes time and experience to develop character. For many of us, it takes a lifetime to build a life of character
Finally , sufferings are not to harm us. Rather, God uses them to shape us into the image of Christ. He uses them to strengthen our hope of heaven. Trials are a part of the “all things” that He works “together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose” Romans 8:28…  AMEN !
