Good Morning …! Praise
the LORD …!
Today’s meditation is
taken from James
1:19-20 “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be
quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger
does not produce the righteousness that God desires.”
Yesterday, we have
seen how important it is to be quick in hearing, in the same verse James
telling about another important aspect in Christian life is “Slow to Speak”.
Most of the corporate
people like 3 letters in the keyboard C, V and Z. Guess? Yes, you are right its
CTRL+C, CTRL+V and CTRL+Z. most of the people use these three things to do the
most of the work in their work place. CTRL+Z plays very important role here,
for those who don't use computers, CTRL Z is an undo shortcut. You type
something into your computer, realize that it wasn't right, and the solution is
easy. CTRL Z! Wouldn't it be wonderful if you could do that
in life? You speak a few careless words, and immediately realize you shouldn't
have said what you said. Simple CTRL Z; undo!
But you can't do that
in life.
That’s the reason,
James clearing telling the importance of speaking.
Someone said that we
have one mouth and two ears and that should give us a fair idea of how much
talking we should do compared to listening.
As scientists said
that the average human speaks at about 150-200 words a minute; but a person's
brain can listen to about 800 words a minute.
It seems that God has
designed us in such a way that should encourage us to be slow to speak.
Scriptures says that,
as a believer it’s very important to restrain our lips while speaking.
Proverbs 10:19 “In the
multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.”
Proverbs 13:3 “He who
guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have
destruction”.
Proverbs 17:28 “Even a
fool is counted wise when he holds his peace; when he shuts his lips, he is
considered perceptive”.
Proverbs 29:20 “Do you see
a man hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him.”
James is very clear on
this note: We need to be slow to speak.
James 4:11 Do not speak
evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his
brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law,
you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
Remember one thing; be
careful while speaking to others. Words have ultimate power to kill the
person’s heart, Proverbs 18:21 tells
us that "death and life are in the power of the tongue?
You can give a life if
you slow to speak … !
Let’s take time and
ask Lord for the right words while speaking … Amen!
GOD BLESS YOU …!
