Daily Devotion : Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven

Today’s meditation is taken from Matthew 5:10 “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

What does “persecution” means?
Persecution means hostility and ill-treatment, especially because of religious beliefs, we knew this word since ages. We as Christians have been criticized or persecuted since long time, even if we do nothing, we will be criticized. I don’t know about you but my family would rather be criticized for doing the right thing than for doing the wrong thing. We would rather be persecuted for doing the right thing than doing the wrong thing.

How can the Persecuted be blessed for righteousness?
As Jesus said “You are blessed when persecution is for righteousness”, Persecution is blessed by God when it comes as a result of righteousness, because they live for God. Righteousness is first Declaration of God. Righteousness is not based upon anything we do; the Bible says our righteousness is as filthy rags to God. God says we are righteous through faith in Christ Jesus. The blood of Christ makes it possible for us to be made righteous. As we “come clean” before God confessing our sin, with the full knowledge that Jesus paid the death penalty in our place, God declares us righteous. Righteousness is also the Dynamic Power of The Holy Spirit. Across the world, Christians are persecuted for various reasons but if the Persecution is for righteousness then they will be truly blessed.

How the Persecuted will  be in kingdom of Heaven?
Here is the blessing “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”, as Jesus said those who persecuted because of righteousness, the kingdom from heaven belongs to them. Matthew 5:12 “Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven” Jesus promised a blessing truly out of this world for those who are persecuted. Those treated unjustly, maligned and falsely accused, beaten, bruised or betrayed, tortured or even killed will have a reward in heaven.  God will bless the persecuted with the kingdom of God.

Some us are afraid about sharing out faith to our friends and co-workers and others, because we think that our life will be threatens or face rejection or criticism or persecution. But we need to remember the words of Jesus “whoever acknowledges me before men I will acknowledge before my father in heaven”

Let’s Pray Lord, Please give me courage to share good news to others, even though I face criticism  and help me lead righteous life .. Amen !

GOD BLESS YOU
