Today’s meditation is
taken from Matthew 5:7 “Blessed are
the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”
What does “Mercy” means?
The word Jesus used for mercy is "eleos," in Greek, it is full of great meaning. It’s used to
describe an attribute of God. Mercy is not Feeling sorry for someone, being
sympathetic but it means "love in action." James 2: 15 “Suppose a
brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to
them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical
needs, what good is it?
How to develop Mercy? Why?
It’s impossible
to practice and live a merciful life but with the help of God, it is possible.
We need to identify the God’s mercy upon us; He showed lot of mercy and gave us
eternal life. The same mercy we have to show it to others and help them in all
aspects of their life. Mercy is meeting people’s needs wherever their needs are
in and what ever situation they find themselves. It’s not simply feeling
compassion but showing compassion, not only sympathizing but offering a helping
hand as well. The true character of mercy is giving compassion, giving help,
giving time, giving money, giving of yourself and giving forgiveness. Then
comes the blessing here “Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.” If
we practice and apply this in our life so that we will be shown mercy by God
and others around us.
Let’s Pray Lord,
Please help me to practice and live a merciful life.. Amen!
GOD BLESS YOU
