Today’s meditation is taken from James 5:2 “Your wealth has rotted”
Yesterday’s burning topics were Money and Trump. There was so much discussion on the money when the Prime Minister Mr.NarendraModi took a bold and courage decision on the corruption. It is unfortunate that many Christians were worried about the decision like other people in the country. Many years ago, Bible has warned rich people in this world.
James has warned all the rich people in this world, James 5:1-5 “Now listen, you rich people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming on you. 2 Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes. 3 Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.
James has been getting us to think about our attitude towards the things of this world, he warned all the believers and we shouldn’t be materialistic. If we store things which are materialistic, then this will happen exactly, “your wealth has rotted and moths have eaten your clothes. Your gold and silver are corroded.”
Bible never teaches us Wealth or Money is wrong but it is your attitude towards it that matters most to God. We should be very careful of our attitude towards the Wealth. Money is like fire, if we use properly and under control, fire is a helpful tool, but if it is used carelessly or with evil intent, it can become a powerful force that destroys both property and life. Wealth can be a dangerous trap that leads people to eternal destruction.
Jesus clearly mentioned in His teachings Matthew 6:19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. We should be very careful not to use wealth in an ungodly manner in this world.
As children of God, we should always store up treasures in heaven not on this earth, and it is clearly mentioned that where your treasure is , there your heart will be also. So we should always question ourselves about the materialistic things in this world.
Word of God continuously warned about the love of money, Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
Even timothy is warning all the rich people in this world , wealth is uncertain , we should always focus and Hope on God 1 Timothy 6:17-19 “ Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18 Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19 In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.”
Remember, Wealth is not wrong but it is the attitude towards it that matters most to God .
Lets pray, Lord Thank you for the wealth which you have given to me, give me wisdom to handle and manage the wealth carefully. Please help me to focus on heavenly things rather than earthly things
GOD BLESS YOU
