Good Morning …! Praise
the LORD …!
Today’s meditation is
taken from Proverbs 16:18 “Pride goes
before destruction and haughtiness before a fall”
One of the greatest
problems that all of us have is our sense of pride. It is that pride of our own
heart that causes the problem. Pride is thinking of ourselves more highly than
we ought to think. Many people don’t know what the pride spirit will do.
Scripture says “Pride goes before
destruction and haughtiness before a fall”. God knows how to bring down the prideful spirit and he will
never fail to do that.
If we look at the Bible,
it has stories of people whose pride led to their fall like Goliath, Haman,
Nebuchadnezzar, Belshazzar etc. Pride is poison to the heart, soul, and mind.
It hardens the heart from loving and forgiving others, so it leads to terrible backsliding and falls. It blinds the mind to dangers and risks, so a man
rushes into foolish choices and destruction .That’s the reasons God wants us to
be humble: He wants to protect us from the destruction and disappointment.
Proverbs 29:23 “A man's
pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor”
We need to give thanks
to God for what he does in our lives. Whatever talents, abilities, and gifts
you may have are not of your own. They were given by God. A lot of people may
say that they worked hard to become an engineer, doctor, politician, musician
or a singer or whatever. But we must realize that all the hard work in the
world won’t make you any of those things unless God first gives you the ability
and the gift to build upon.
Watch out prideful
spirit in you. And seek the God’s help to overcome it. Develop Christ like humble
nature. Humility is obeying God and serving others. “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand
of God, that he may exalt you in due time” I Peter 5:6.
GOD BLESS YOU
